Identification of the quality of fiberglass reinforced plastic

Summary:
A composite plastic made of glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin.

Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is a composite plastic made of glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin, and phenolic resin as matrix materials. As a type of composite material, fiberglass has been widely used in industries such as aerospace, railway, decorative construction, home furniture, building materials, bathroom and sanitation engineering due to its unique performance advantages. So how do we distinguish the quality of fiberglass?
1、 Selection of materials
The raw materials used for fiberglass reinforced plastic are resin, glass fiber, and other supporting auxiliary materials configured in appropriate proportions. High quality fiberglass is made of high-quality resin, with low viscosity, low heat release, low shrinkage, high-speed curing, high-speed compatibility, and bright glossiness.
2、 Comparison of finished products
High quality fiberglass products have no obvious cracks in appearance, few pores, bright and pure color, good transparency, good toughness, high strength, good surface smoothness, and long service life; However, inferior fiberglass products have cracks in appearance, more pores, impure color, and insufficient glossiness. Its service life is also relatively short.
3、 Durability
Fiberglass can also demonstrate its true strength in practical use. High quality fiberglass has a slightly dull color after a few years of use, but remains intact without obvious damage. Poor quality fiberglass cannot withstand the test of time and will show obvious damage such as corrosion, fracture, and porosity after a few years of use. Its shape is not so smooth, and its color deteriorates severely, leading to overall aging. Generally, high-quality fiberglass needs to be used for twenty years, but after two years, poor quality fiberglass will experience overall aging, causing huge losses to customers. Therefore, we would like to remind our customers not to choose inferior fiberglass products at a low price and lose more than they gain!
There are several methods to distinguish the quality of fiberglass:
1. External dimensional tolerance (grid internal dimensions, external dimensions)
2. Appearance (undesirable defects: exposed fibers, whitening, pits, fractures, uneven fibers, etc.)
3. Bakool hardness
4. Concentrated load and uniformly distributed load
5. Resin content
6. The simplest and most feasible method to identify the quality of fiberglass is to place the fiberglass directly on a cement or tile floor, and you will hear a crisp steel sound, which is qualified fiberglass.
